A lot of people opt for wearing contact lenses rather than glasses. Contact lenses offer freedom to move around, play sports and normal, everyday task without having to worry about glasses falling off or getting in the way. Today there are more comfortable and user-friendly styles to choose from, pretty much anyone with imperfect vision can wear contact lenses.

Some things to consider before you choose a brand:
Some brands only carry specific lenses. Do your research before picking up the box. There are loads of brands out there, and many online places to buy lenses, most places are safe but some can be a quick cash grab. You don’t want to be buying your contact lenses from a basement operation. Important tip: Make sure you fully understand your prescription. If you end up with the wrong prescription lens, you could do further damage to your vision. It’s important to find a lens that is comfortable, easy to use and that will help your vision. Also keep in mind the expiration date of your prescription. Once it expires, you won’t be able to purchase any new lenses until you renew it.  

There are many types of contact lenses to choose from here are the most popular:

  • Bifocal: Gone are the days of having to wear bifocal glasses! Bifocal lenses are the perfect solution for prescriptions that require both distance viewing and up-close reading.
  • Colored: For a subtle change in your look. Colored contact lenses are a great way to temporarily change your eye color.
  • Disposable: Perfect for short-term use during the day, disposable contact lenses are worn then tossed in the trash at the end of the day. Some may last up to 3 months.   
  • Overnight: Put them in and forget about it. Long-term or overnight lenses can be work for up to 7 days without taking them out. These lenses are a bit risky, as harmful bacteria can accumulate behind the lens and on the eye leading to infection.
  • Soft: Made from think and flexible material and water, soft contact lenses offer comfort for those with sensitive eyes.
